Jane Street partners with AMT to support Australia’s brightest maths minds

The Australian Maths Trust (AMT) is pleased to announce a five-year partnership with leading research-driven trading firm Jane Street.

Jane Street is passionate about supporting mathematical organisations across the world, and this partnership marks the first time it has worked with the AMT, whose mission is to develop a nation of creative problem solvers.

“We’re excited to partner with the Australian Maths Trust to help develop the next generation of creative problem solvers. At Jane Street, we’ve seen firsthand how AMT’s programs encourage outstanding talent – in fact, many AMT alumni have joined our team in Hong Kong. We are proud to support AMT’s mission as the founding sponsor of its new Alumni Program, and we look forward to a long and productive partnership.” Jane Street’s Jeff Nanney said.

Mat Meriaux, CEO of the AMT, is looking forward to working in partnership with Jane Street.

“As the AMT enters a pivotal year, we are proud to welcome Jane Street as our Major Partner. Our Olympiad program is the flagship of our organisation, identifying, training, and supporting Australia’s most promising students to compete on the global stage at the International Mathematical Olympiad, the International Olympiad in Informatics, and other prestigious competitions. Excellence demands constant innovation, and this partnership with Jane Street embodies that commitment. Their values align closely with ours; they are innovative and share our passion for deep mathematical fluency. Together with Jane Street, we look forward to the next five years of collaboration.”

The partnership between AMT and Jane Street will provide dual support for Australia’s Olympiad and Alumni programs. The Olympiad program includes specialist camps, exams and mentoring programs designed to develop students and select teams representing Australia. The Alumni program is an emerging community of former Olympiad program participants who are influential and central to AMT’s mission and vision.

Mark Barnes, Director of Olympiads and Pathways at the AMT, is equally excited about the opportunities this partnership could bring for students and alumni alike.

“This partnership with Jane Street will be highly beneficial for everyone involved in the Olympiad program. This collaboration strengthens what we do and the impact we make and opens the door to greater opportunities for our students and the AMT alumni community. I am very excited about what the next five years will bring.”

Each year, AMT produces a series of maths and algorithmic competitions and programs that challenge young Australians to extend their creative problem-solving skills.  Students who excel may have the opportunity to test their skills against other students internationally at annual mathematical and informatics Olympiads.
